My music education.
My musical journey began at the age of eight, when I started learning the accordion privately. As I grew older, my passion for rhythm led me to discover the drums, which I took up out of pure passion. Over time, my interest in percussion and different musical instruments developed, and I became a multi-percussionist. Today, I play and teach handpan alongside the accordion and drums, exploring melody, rhythm, and improvisation. Teaching is an important part of my musical journey, and in 2021 I obtained an RSL Level 4 Professional Diploma in Teaching, further developing my skills as a music educator.
My music experience as handpan player.
I have recorded two albums as a musician, each reflecting a different side of my musical journey. The first was recorded as the drummer of a punk-rock band, allowing me to explore energetic rhythms, powerful grooves, and live-oriented performance. The second album was created with my neoclassical band, SoulMelodica, where I play the handpan and explore a more atmospheric and melodic approach to music. In 2024, I performed with SoulMelodica at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, sharing our music with audiences from around the world. I have also performed at numerous events across Edinburgh, including a concert at the National Library.

I am a music teacher with over seven years of experience teaching students of all ages, backgrounds, and levels of ability. My teaching approach is practical, direct, and student-focused, allowing learners to experience and apply each topic first-hand during the lesson. I believe that active participation is one of the most effective ways to develop musical understanding, confidence, and technique. My lessons combine clear guidance with hands-on practice, while adapting to each student’s individual goals, learning style, and pace. Whether beginners or more experienced musicians, I aim to create an encouraging environment where students can enjoy learning and develop their own musical expression.

My handpan teaching programme is structured into three progressive courses, designed to support students at different stages of their musical journey. The Beginner’s Guide introduces the fundamentals of the handpan, including basic techniques, coordination, and musical understanding. The Intermediate Course focuses on developing rhythm and melody, helping students build confidence and greater musical independence. The Advanced Course is designed for experienced musicians who want to refine their technique, explore more complex rhythms and melodies, and develop their own musical style. For each student, I create tailored learning materials combining exercises, soundtracks, and practical activities, adapting the lessons to their individual goals, abilities, and progress.

I teach a variety of musical genres and rhythmic styles, starting with the basic backbeat and gradually progressing to more complex rhythms, such as Kaligi and Maqsum. My lessons also include music theory, from the fundamentals through an intermediate level. While I do not teach advanced music theory, I believe that the handpan does not require an extensive theoretical background to be played and enjoyed creatively. I also teach improvisation and composition, helping students develop their own musical ideas and learn how to structure a song. My goal is to give students practical tools to express themselves confidently and creatively through the handpan.

Online handpan lessons offer a flexible and personalised way to learn from anywhere in the world. Through live video sessions, students receive real-time guidance, demonstrations and feedback from their teacher, while learning at their own pace from the comfort of home. Remote learning makes it possible to access expert instruction without geographical limitations, with lessons tailored to each student’s level, goals and musical interests.
